Sabato 20 giungo 2020 alle ore 21.00 Palazzo Pesce apre le sue porte a “Promenade Bechet”, insieme al quintetto formato dal clarinettista Francesco Manfredi, dal trombettista Mino Lacirignola, dal chitarrista e banjoista Michele Biancofiore, dal tubista Alessio Anzivino e dal batterista Michele Fracchiolla.
Un concerto in Puglia per essere spettatori del primo progetto da “band leader” di Francesco Manfredi: un lavoro filologico sul clarinettista creolo Sidney Bechet, che scandaglia con una attenta ricerca il suono, le idee e lo stile delle band degli anni Trenta e Quaranta. Un programma musicale che vede accanto alle composizioni di Bechet i brani che hanno segnato la sua brillante carriera da clarinettista e sopranista: “Summertime”, “Roses of Picardy”, “Blues My Naughte sweetie gives to me” e altre struggenti melodie senza tempo rivivono nelle sonorità del quintetto con a capo Manfredi e che, fin dal suo debutto nel maggio 2019, si è esibito in occasione di numerosi festival e rassegne, tra cui Itria Jazz 2019 a Cisternino, Sovereto Jazz e Argo Jazz 2019 – nell’ambito di quest’ultimo ottenendo il premio come Miglior progetto musicale e discografico presente al Festival e il premio come Miglior musicista, assegnato a Francesco Manfredi.
Un’occasione imperdibile per assaporare lo swing talvolta frizzante talvolta melanconico delle musiche di un’epoca irripetibile e piena di contraddizioni.
