Da qualche parte nelle suburb londinesi, Freddie Mercury è ancora Farrokh Bulsara e vive con i genitori in attesa che il suo destino diventi eccezionale. Perché Farrokh lo sa che è fatto per la gloria. Contrastato dal padre, che lo vorrebbe allineato alla tradizione e alle origini parsi, vive soprattutto per la musica che scrive nelle pause lavorative. Dopo aver convinto Brian May (chitarrista) e Roger Taylor (batterista) a ingaggiarlo con la sua verve e la sua capacità vocale, l'avventura comincia. Insieme a John Deacon (bassista) diventano i Queen e infilano la gloria malgrado (e per) le intemperanze e le erranze del loro leader: l'ultimo dio del rock and roll.
