IF I DIE I DIE FEST ATTO TERZO: IL RITORNO!
È passato un po’ di tempo dai precedenti episodi del mini festival milanese che ha portato in scena, nelle sue due edizioni, gruppi di culto tra gli appassionati degli eighties più goth quali Lene Lovich, Skeletal Family e Twisted Nerve, supportati da “nuove leve” di tutto rispetto.
Quasi tre anni in cui le produzioni targate “If I die I die” sono andate avanti, in attesa di scrivere il terzo atto del festival che ne porta il nome... e il momento è finalmente arrivato!
Preparatevi a un’invasione proveniente dai territori più cupi della Ville Lumière, a colpi di taglienti synth cold-wave da un lato e infiammabili cadenze electro-post punk dall’altro: ecco a voi Charles de Goal e Frustration!
Aspettate a riprendere fiato, perché a completare la clamorosa line-up ci penseranno i mancuniani Inca Babies, che con il loro incedere punk blues tornano in Italia dopo l’esibizione all’Evil Fest 2017, e i bolognesi Horror Vacui, ad oggi uno dei nomi di punta della scena deathrock/dark punk internazionale.
Non resta che procurarsi un’agendina per il nuovo anno e cerchiare con insistenza la data di venerdì 16 marzo 2018… e, come sempre, "If I die, I die! But enjoy the show first!”

It's been a while since the previous episodes of the Milan Mini festival that has brought to the scene, in its two editions, cult groups among fans of the most goth eighties such as Lene Lovich, Skeletal Family and Twisted Nerve, supported by "new levers" of all respect
Almost three years in which the productions labeled "If I Die I die" have gone on, waiting to write the third act of the festival that bears the name... and the moment has finally arrived!
Get ready for an invasion from the darkest territories of the Ville Lumière, with sharp cold-wave synths on one side and flammable electro-post punk cadences on the other: here's Charles de Goal and Frustration!
And no! You'll have no time to take a breath, cause then it will be the turn of Inca Babies, who with their special punk blues touch will walk again on an Italian stage after their performance at Evil Fest in 2017, and Horror Vacui from Bologna, one of the flagship names on the international deathrock/goth punk scene nowadays.
You just have to get a diary for the new year and look insistently on the date of Friday, March 16, 2018... and, as always, "If I die, I die! But enjoy the show first! "

Quando una band trae spunto per il proprio nome da un brano dei Crisis, suona già come una dichiarazione d’intenti: i Frustration sono nati a Parigi nel 2002 riunendo membri provenienti da precedenti esperienze punk, new wave e garage rock e hanno dato vita a un esplosivo ensemble dedito a un post punk potente e feroce con riferimenti quali Warsaw, Wire, Killing Joke e the Fall, a cui hanno aggiunto un marcato piglio cold wave, come nel più felice dei connubi ‘80s oriented. I tre album su Born Bad Records, più singoli, EPs e raccolte possono solo darvi un’idea della bomba live che vi aspetta… vedere (e sentire) per credere!

Quattro album tra il 1980 e il 1986, tutti su New Rose Records, e un altro paio in epoca “moderna” (l’ultimo risale al 2016) per il progetto che risponde al nome di Charles de Goal, al secolo Patrick Blain, one man band parigina che per diversi anni è rimasta celata alla curiosità del pubblico per una precisa volontà di anonimato. I primi concerti, infatti, risalgono solo al 1985. E sono piccole perle di gelida ma sferzante cold wave, minimalista e a tratti nervosa, quelle che Blain porta sul palco, oggi con una formazione a quattro; in particolare il primo episodio, Algorythmes, è uno dei migliori esperimenti in ambito post-punk francese.

È da Manchester, cardine del post punk, che nel 1982 hanno preso le mosse gli Inca Babies, precisamente nel quartiere di Hulme, dove il fondatore Harry Stafford cercava un sound originale in quel contesto ormai frammentato che aveva seguito la deflagrazione del punk. La risposta la trovò ispirandosi al garage sgangherato dei Cramps, al punk blues dei Gun Club e alle liturgie selvagge dei Birthday Party, senza tralasciare echi sixties: la miscela incuriosì John Peel, che propose loro ben quattro sessions, e riscosse buone critiche. Attivi fino al 1988, si sono riformati nel 2007 con una nuova line up, sempre capitanata da Stafford.

Il quintetto di Bologna, attivo dal 2010, fonde un background indiscutibilmente punk e diy (che conserva e continua anzi a mantenere vivo nei vari progetti paralleli dei componenti) e sonorità solitamente associate all’universo “dark”. Il risultato è stato da loro stessi definito “vampire punk”, in cui i testi politicizzati, di protesta e inquietudine individuale trovano sfogo nelle oscure incursioni old school goth. I cinque punk rockers amanti della new wave hanno all’attivo due full length e una manciata di EPs e singoli, l’ultimo del 2017. Molto apprezzati oltreoceano, sono considerati tra i protagonisti del panorama deathrock attuale.
