COSSYRA JAZZ GROOVE é una formazione che propone composizioni di musica jazz e fusion che abbracciano un periodo piuttosto ampio: dagli anni ’70 del secolo scorso fino ad oggi.
La formazione é costituita prevalentemente da musicisti panteschi, tra cui alcuni stabilitisi da anni a Milano: Alberto Minetti (pianoforte), Dario Spezia (chitarra elettrica), Cristiano Marino (basso elettrica) e Gaetano Brignone (batteria).
Il repertorio della formazione, che dal 2016 propone concerti a metà agosto la quasi totalità tenutisi nel Castello di Pantelleria, é caratterizzato da una impronta ritmica e armonica che, nonostante l’ampio periodo compositivo, si riferisce al cosiddetto Groove Jazz, ossia brani che riescono ad essere di quasi immediata fruizione anche da un pubblico non solo orientato al Jazz. Il programma della serata prevede infatti musiche di: George Benson, Oliver Nelson, Jaco Pastorius e Joe Zawinul (Weather Report), Russell Ferrante e Bob Mintzer (Yellowjackets), Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Mike Mainieri (Steps Ahead) e di altri compositori.
