Dall’omonimo romanzo epistolare di Giovanni Verga e con la riduzione teatrale curata da Rosario Minardi, Banned Theatre presenta STORIA DI UNA CAPINERA, uno spettacolo/mise en espace stilizzato ed onirico ma al tempo stesso intenso e coinvolgente. Una messinscena singolare, realizzata senza l'ausilio di musiche di scena ma sonorizzata attraverso l'uso di oggetti e delle semplici voci degli interpreti che costituiscono il tappeto sonoro dello spettacolo, sempre presente a sottolineare la temperatura degli avvenimenti. Cinque attori animano i momenti salienti del romanzo e attraverso la storia delicata e struggente di Maria, la tormentata protagonista, conducono il pubblico nell’atmosfera siciliana del 1800. Un progetto di grande valenza culturale che si propone come un vero invito alla scoperta di uno dei più famosi romanzieri siciliani attraverso la forma teatrale, facilmente fruibile da un pubblico di tutte le età.
BANNED THEATRE nasce a Catania nel febbraio del 2014 ed è una compagnia indipendente che svolge la propria attività su tutto il territorio nazionale. Ha collaborato e co-prodotto diversi spettacoli con vari enti e festival di grande prestigio quali il Teatro Stabile di Catania, il Calatafimi Segesta Festival – Dionisiache, I ART, il Teatro Lelio di Palermo, il Teatro dei Due Mari di Messina, Teatri di Pietra Sicilia.
Oltre all’attività di creazione e produzione Banned Theatre ha un occhio di riguardo per la FORMAZIONE ed ha organizzato diversi workshop.
La missione della compagnia punta alla creazione artistica in più forme, soprattutto quella teatrale, trovando nei suoi artisti le peculiarità più differenti e le competenze idonee alla divulgazione culturale con l’obiettivo concreto, date le esperienze internazionali, di portare il proprio lavoro a misurarsi col pubblico delle diverse nazioni.
