Franco Venturini immagina che il fantasma di Nerone torni ogni cento anni a calcare le scene di un teatro romano confrontandosi così con i problemi e i paradossi della Roma d’oggi. A fare da contraltare al suo sproloquio comparirà Pompea, donna di facili costumi che porterà l'imperatore a ragionare anche sul suo burrascoso passato di libertino.
