Restaurato in 4K nel 2016 da Paramount e dal regista John Badham presso i laboratori Technicolor e Deluxe a partire dal negativo originale 35mm e dalle tre matrici 35mm'
Nel 40° anniversario del cult di John Badham che immortalò il talento di John Travolta e lo trasformò in star mondiale l'associazione lumpen in collaborazione con il comune di Palermo, Cineteca di Bologna e Cinema Ritrovato presenta "La febbre del sabato sera (Director's cut) nel nuovo restauro 4K targato Paramount.
Sullo sfondo di una New York livida e marginale, il ballo, per l'italoamericano Tony Manero, è strumento di riscatto sociale e morale. Le movenze irresistibili di John Travolta tra i colori pop della pista da ballo e la colonna sonora composta dai Bee Gees, quintessenza seventies della disco music, ne hanno fatto uno dei film musicali di maggiore successo di sempre, un vero e proprio culto che ha impresso un segno indelebile nella storia del cinema e del costume. Eppure, dietro lo sfavillio delle luci stroboscopiche, resta l'amarezza di un ritratto giovanile crudo e disperato.
