La commedia riporta in scena in chiave moderna Gennaro, un giovane portinaio con pochi soldi e molti sogni, e Ferdinando non meno squattrinato e sognatore, che ha ereditato la stamperia del padre. Entrambi in cerca di un lavoro onesto le tentano tutte fino a che, per varie vicende, si ritrovano la carta filigranata della banconote da 100 euro... Si troveranno così invischiati in un gioco pericoloso di falsificazione, compromessi morali e identità rubate, fino a un finale in cui la dignità, la vera ricchezza, viene messa alla prova.
