Il Duo FOLKSONGS!, composto da Francesco Palazzo alla fisarmonica e Tiziana Portoghese, mezzosoprano nasce dalla pluriennale esperienza dei due musicisti pugliesi.
Il duo ha proposto una ricerca tra le più rilevanti e belle musiche scritte su testi popolari di tutto il mondo, un viaggio musicale attraverso diversi continenti: dall'Europa all'America Latina e all’ Asia. Canzoni e Lieder di estrazione colta ispirati da testi popolari; canzoni jiddish e romanì, brani originali e inediti, composti per il duo negli ultimi anni da compositori accademici e provenienti da formazioni e culture eterogenee, come Andrea Marena, Nicola Girasole, Luigi Morleo, Massimo De Lillo, oltre a composizioni e arrangiamenti curati dagli stessi interpreti. Nel marzo 2014 il Duo ha pubblicato il CD “FOLKSONGS!” per l’etichetta Digressione Music, dando inizio a una tournèe di concerti in Italia e all’estero (Congo, Germania e Russia) riscuotendo entusiastici consensi di pubblico e di critica. Il Duo ha inoltre registrato due trasmissioni radiofoniche per Radio Vaticana e un intero concerto, trasmesso nei circuiti EuroRadio ed è stato scelto da PugliaSounds tra gli artisti e i gruppi emergenti esibitisi all’interno del Medimex 2014.
A Palazzo Pesce presenteranno il loro secondo CD “FOLKSONGS!” Vol. 2, offrendo un viaggio a partire dalla Svezia passando per il Portogallo e la Grecia, attraverseranno l‘oceano fino a raggiungere il Giappone per poi tornare in Italia in terra siciliana attraverso testi popolari, brani originali e composizioni inedite.
