CARMELA LA SANGUINARIA - Un’antica storia arianese
17 giugno 1908. In cima alle colonne del quotidiano la dicitura recita ancora “Ariano di Puglia”. La storia è un fatto di cronaca, realmente accaduto. Carmela, una ragazza del popolo, “difende il suo onore con un delitto”. Sulla carta è una tragedia. Eppure alcune dinamiche, complice la lingua del tempo e gli animosi dibattiti politici d’inizio secolo, hanno preso la piega di una tragicommedia, ilare ma dalle tinte fosche. “La Fermata” riscrive un episodio che ha scosso l’Ariano dei primi del Novecento, perché ci sono tutti i temi più cari alla Compagnia: il continuo contrasto tra la risata e il dramma, la riflessione sulla lingua, il patriarcato e il femminismo, i fervori politici e l’amore in tutte le sue forme, anche e soprattutto per la propria terra.
