LA VERA DA POZZO AI GASOMETRI DI VENEZIA
Ai Gasometri di Venezia è stata ritrovata una grande vera da pozzo del 1500 che era stata abbandonata. Il ritrovamento ha destato grande interesse a Venezia e fuori città.
La vera da pozzo è stata dipinta da Canaletto e da Guardi
Nel ‘700 grandi pittori come il Canaletto e il Guardi hanno ritratto l’antico Campo San Francesco. Nei dipinti si vede una vera da pozzo che sembra corrispondere a quella riportata in luce nell’area Gasometri.

In attesa del restauro e restituzione al territorio, proponiamo con grande piacere l’analisi del dott. Bruno Angheben sulla vera da pozzo ai Gasometri che ci apprestiamo a riportare alla luce in Campo San Francesco a Venezia grazie alla Bonifica.
Angheben ha messo in evidenza che dal punto di vista documentale è decisamente più attendibile la riproduzione del Canaletto grazie alla ben nota precisione del suo disegno. Nel senso che la stessa vera rappresentata dal Guardi appare lontana dal reale avendo una diversa struttura ed appoggiando su basamento rotondo a due gradini, anziché a tre. Il fatto che oggi conservi un solo gradino è conseguenza abbastanza frequente dell’usura del tempo.
Dall’esame congiunto di tutte le immagini della vera nelle sue condizioni attuali consente di stabilire che le sei specchiature mostrano (in senso orario):
- Il rilievo di San Francesco che riceve le stigmate;
- Festone;
- Nulla, con cannella di fontana ottocentesca;
- Festone;
- Nulla, ma probabilmente vi era il rilievo del sopraccitato leone marciano raffigurato dal Canaletto, scalpellato a seguito dell’iconoclastia antimarciana del 1797 e si dovrebbero ancora riconoscere i segni di tale intervento;
- Festone probabile, benché poco visibile nelle foto.
