Description

Nel 1989 Keith Haring arrivò a Pisa quasi per caso per regalare alla città la sua ultima opera pubblica, prima di morire di Aids pochi mesi dopo. Un grandissimo murale (circa 180 metriquadri) che si trova sulla parete esterna della canonica della chiesa di Sant'Antonio abate a Pisa. Un'opera oggi vincolata dalla Soprintendenza. 

A ricostruirne la storia di quei giorni di festa e allegria e i significati delle singole figure è «Pisa è Tuttomondo. Il murale di Keith Haring raccontato alle nuove generazioni» scritto da due giornaliste, Francesca Bianchi ed Elisa Bani, e pubblicato da Marchetti Editore (www.marchettieditore.it). 

Marco Malvaldi – il papà della saga del Barlume –  ha firmato il saluto di apertura, la testimonianza dei giorni in cui venne realizzato il murale è dell’artista Francesco Moretti che colorò a fianco di Haring alcune delle figure. Le illustrazioni sono, invece, del giovanissimo Matteo Simili, studente delle medie inferiori. 

Il libro – a distanza di 30 anni dall’happening che travolse la città di Pisa  – approfondisce con parole semplici adatte a bambini e ragazzi la vita del writer americano e ripercorre i giorni in cui l’artista (che giunse a Pisa dopo un incontro con Piergiorgio Castellani, studente di Pontedera, in strada a New York) creò l’opera, analizzando anche le principali figure.
